1)     2013-14 Core Fulbright Scholar Program Competition Open until August 1
The competition for 2013-14 Fulbright Scholar grants is now open. The application deadline for most programs is August 1, 2012. U.S. scholars and professionals can learn how to present their credentials at www.iie.org/cies. The core Fulbright Scholar Program sends 800+ U.S. faculty and professionals abroad each year. Grantees lecture and conduct research in a wide variety of academic and professional fields.
The general eligibility guidelines and the Catalog of Awards are also available on-line.  To register your interest in the program, join the My Fulbright online community for updates and access to helpful resources for applicants.

2)    Fulbright Scholar Program Expansion in Brazil
We are pleased to announce some exciting developments for the program with Brazil for the 2013-14 Fulbright U.S. Scholar competition. The governments of the United States and Brazil, through the U.S-Brazil Fulbright Commission, are expanding teaching and research exchange opportunities for mid-career researchers and senior faculty in the U.S. in the areas of science, technology and innovation through the new Fulbright-Science Without Borders Core Scholar and Distinguished Chair awards.  U.S. scholars will be affiliated with top Brazilian universities and research centers in their areas of specialization, fostering increased cooperation and institutional collaboration between applied researchers in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). Proficiency in Portuguese or Spanish is not required for Fulbright-Science Without Borders applicants.
A new Postdoctoral Research award designed for early career candidates from any discipline of study, will allow scholars to conduct research in support of their professional development while advancing the scholarly mission of the hosting institution.
Other opportunities for U.S. academics and professionals include a Social Sciences and Humanities award, as well as four Distinguished Chair awards in the following fields: American Studies; Environmental Sciences and Engineering; Oil and Gas Sciences and Engineering; and Visual Arts.  To learn more about these opportunities and how to apply to the 2013-14 Fulbright U.S. Scholar competition, please contact Katrin DeWindt at kdewindt@iie.org. 3)  Fulbright Scholar Program to Haiti: OPEN
We are pleased to announce that the Haiti program is active for the 2013-14 awards cycle, after over a decade of hiatus. Further information on applying can be found on the Core Fulbright Scholar Program website and I encourage you to review the Catalog of Awards for specifics on award offerings. Fulbright opportunities to Haiti include:
·  Rebuilding Higher Education (#3526) - Applications are sought in all appropriate disciplines with a preference for Education; this is a teaching and research project affiliated with the Interuniversity Institute for Research and Development to engage in a national assessment of higher education institutions (grant length is 9 months).
·  Science and Technology (#3527) - Applicant in the fields of Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Physics and Astronomy are encouraged to apply. Specific requests have been made for laboratory management and teaching, research, and curriculum development in basic sciences and renewable energy; Ph.D. is required (grant length is 9 months).
·  Business Development (#3528) - Partner with the Centre de Formation et d'Encadrement Technique to assist in the implementation of training programs for small entrepreneurs. Activities include curriculum design, development of a marketing and finance plan, and training seminars. The award requires an MBA, and is open to professionals (grant length is 6 months).

4)  Deadline Approaching: June 15 for Fulbright Nexus Program
The Fulbright Regional Network for Applied Research (NEXUS) Program will bring together a network of junior scholars, professionals and mid-career applied researchers from the United States and other Western Hemisphere nations for a series of three seminar meetings and a Fulbright exchange experience.
Up to twenty outstanding scholars and practitioners from the U.S. and abroad will be selected as Fulbright NEXUS Scholars to participate in the program through an open competition. Approximately one-third of grantees will be selected from the United States. Approximately two thirds of the grantees will originate from Western Hemisphere countries other than the United States. Program activities will commence in November 2012 and conclude in September 2013.
Fulbright NEXUS Program will provide a platform for scholars from across the region to engage in collaborative thinking, analysis, problem-solving and multi-disciplinary research in one of three inter-related topics:  Science, Technology and Innovation, Entrepreneurship, Sustainable Energy
