Cassidy R. Schoenfelder Receives SBSRI Dissertation Research Grant
Dec. 9, 2024
Congratulations to Cassidy Schoenfelder (Oglála Lakȟóta) from the School of Geography, Development, & Environment who received a SBSRI Dissertation Research Grant.
Cassidy researches the geographical and political implications of Indigenous visual sovereignty, or the right for Indigenous Peoples to control how they are represented visually and in narrative. Her project includes conducting ethnographic fieldwork in southeastern Alaska's Glacier Bay National Park and Preserve, examining how Indigenous self-representation created by and for the local Huna Tlingit influences tribal self-determination efforts within natural and cultural resource management."
