Congratulations to Xanti Ceballos Pesina from the School of Anthropology who received a SBSRI Dissertation Research Grant.

Xanti's project examines the role that ritual and public gatherings played in the early community building of the Preclassic Maya society. Her research focuses on a minor plaza group at the archaeological site of Aguada Fénix, México (1050 BC). This project combines excavation, artifactual analysis and radiocarbon dating.
