Dr. Thomas Volgy Receives SBSRI Faculty Small Grant

Congratulations to Dr. Thomas Volgy from the School of Government and Public Policy who received a SBSRI Faculty Small Grant.

Dr. Volgy's grant will be essential to allow his research team to finish a new and unique database on state visits between countries within East Asia and as well within the Middle East. In turn, the data will be used to assess patterns of cooperation within the 2 regions, 1 of which is deeply mired in various conflicts (the Middle East) and the other (East Asia) where long-term conflicts have diminished over time but now appear to be on the rise once more. Additionally, the data will allow his team to chart the extent to which major and regional powers have pursued cooperative strategies with the members of these 2 regions.
