Change in Conflict of Interest Requirements for Research Proposals

Dec. 13, 2013

University of Arizona
On February 28, 2014, new conflict of interest (COI) regulations for NSF proposals will take effect; click here for more information. A large number of federal agencies, including the Department of Defense (DOD), National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), and the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) apply NSF terms and conditions to their funding, thus requiring the same certifications at the proposal stage.
Because of this change in NSF regulations and its application across federal agencies, the University of Arizona will require completion of COI requirements prior to proposal submission on all proposals for federal and sub-federal funding. This means that prior to the submission of any federal or sub-federal funding proposal, Principal Investigators, Co-Investigators, Senior/Key Personnel and all other individuals who will be working on the project that meet the definition of Investigator must complete the required disclosure and training. The UA's Conflict of Interest Office will be hosting several trainings across campus, beginning in January 2014. Click here for more information regarding conflict of interest training and disclosure.
