Aug. 22, 2013

Fulbright
Faculty members: Are you looking for an opportunity to mentor students? The university needs to interview all applicants for the Fulbright U.S. Student Program to provide feedback on their applications. The Honors College needs faculty volunteers to interview for these committees from all fields, as there are a variety of projects. If interested in volunteering, please see details below and contact Emily Kotay (Scholarship Advisor: emkotay@email.arizona.edu) with the times you are available to volunteer on Friday, Sept. 20.
Details: Every year about 50 people apply for the Fulbright U.S. Student Program from our university. We have a strong record of success every year. This fellowship program has two opportunities to go abroad for a year: English Teaching Assistantship and Study/Research Grant. Students choose a country and devise a research project or teach English.
Interviews will be held on Friday, 9/20. The morning session is from 9am-12pm, and the afternoon session is from 1pm-5pm. Interviews will run about 30 minutes per applicant. The interviews are an opportunity for the applicant to explain their project and goals in depth and get feedback to improve their applications for their final deadline of 10/10. Prior to 9/20, if you volunteer to sit on an interview committee, you will receive sample interview questions, along with copies of applications to review prior to the interviews, and a schedule for the day of the interviews (9/20).
