Crossing Latinidades 2026-2027 Predoctoral Fellowship: Apply Now!

The 2026-27 Crossing Latinidades Mellon Research Fellowship application is now open! The fellowship offers a stipend of $30,000, along with a tuition waiver, health insurance, and some tuition fees.
Awarded fellows commit to completing a faculty research mentorship program with a faculty member at their university by conducting research on U.S. Latino/a topics. They also must attend the 2026 summer institute at the University of Illinois Chicago on June 12-21, 2026, and must attend virtual professionalization programs and speakers series throughout fall 2026 and spring 2027. Students will receive a $3,000 stipend to cover travel expenses to the summer institute.
To be eligible, students must be completing either their second or third year of a PhD program by May 2026 (or be completing their third or fourth year of a combined MA/PhD program by May 2026) and must be preparing a future dissertation on U.S. Latino/a topics. Applicants are expected to work on prospectuses throughout the fellowship year to achieve ABD status by May 2027. Students must be either U.S. Citizens or U.S. Residents/Green Card holders.
