ActivitiesActivities funded: Dissertation/ThesisResearchTeaching DescriptionThe Consortium is committed to increasing the diversity of students, faculty members and curricular offerings at liberal arts colleges with a particular focus on enhancing the diversity of faculty members and of applicants for faculty positions. The early goals of the Consortium included encouraging U.S. citizens who are members of under-represented minority groups to complete their graduate programs and to consider faculty employment in liberal arts colleges. This fellowship is intended for scholars in the final stage of their dissertation and aims to help the fellow complete the final requirements for the degree during the year of residency. Dissertation fellows will receive compensation equivalent to a starting one-year instructor at the host institution. Modest funds will be provided to finance proposed research and scholarship. Mentoring of teaching will be provided. Dissertation fellows will be expected to teach the equivalent of one semester-long course during the academic year, participate in functions such as departmental seminars, and interact regularly with students.
